I say go for it! You can also process the finished sound effect through your 2600 and use it in your music 🎶 😆

I don’t know if you have these items but they will be helpful.
De-soldering braid, flux paste in a syringe (use very sparingly), flux remover & thin needle nose pliers. I would also practice de-soldering on some junk electronics. Anything that has a circuit board that you can pull apart will do.
