I don't believe there is one cause. But it's increasing because it's a spectrum, so many people have different types and levels, so more and more are getting diagnosed. And we have more people better able to diagnose it. We have always had autism it's been called different things.

Being a bit butch today, I went to homo depot and bought some new lights for my dining area. Had an electrician quote me $900 to replace the lights for me. Some googling and youtube. I spent $150 and did the switch out myself.
