Will the CL money help bridge the gap for villa? I suspect we will be up against it again ffp wise

Ming's for me is our best pure defender, would try to get him in the team. Not convinced Duran and Watkins can play together but equally nobody else is scoring any goals at all, so we probably need to find a way to get both in.

Last season we outscored teams, but we lost 35 goals from the team with luiz and diaby gone and didn't replace it with any attacking players. so now your left with a leaky defence (we didn't upgrade this area either) and a worse attack (especially with Watkins and bailey not performing)

I mentioned Gomez in the summer, think he's a good fit. Diakité I haven't seen much of but thought he was excellent when we played against them last season.

Good read mate, agree with a lot of what you're saying. Although I do think Carlos should go to the man (JPM) rather than dropping. The way were playing is (should be) aggressive, everyone else is doing that minus himself who's taken a very passive decision.

Any ideas why tielimans isn't any longer being used higher up? It feels like kamara and Barkley suit what we were doing with luiz/ kamara more so than tielimans, and we miss tielimans final ball higher up?

Can't play a high line with such passive and slow center backs as Carlos and Torres. They get caught flat so often so easy to play against. Also if your going to play high you can't just turnover possession as often as we do in bad areas.

I guess one of the issues is if you buy someone like him then Carlos is then 3rd choice in that role on 100k a week not being used. Ideal for me Is a RB if we can get one mainly because cash is just rarely available it seems, and I don't want to keep moving konsa out wide.

Haha yeah absolutely. Was brilliant to watch though! The artists of the game are now replaced with efficient system players. Not as exciting as seeing a totti or baggio etc create a moment of brilliance for me.

Used to love carbone , gutted he wasn't here longer. Him and merson, those type of players just don't seem to exist anymore
