Defender of alternate realities. Lover of those with a moral compass. Two wrongs do not make a right. The ends never justify the means.
Except there are also contemporary reports of his attitudes and behaviours documented during the low bar of 1970s racism by his teachers as this reporting from 2013 shows.

It runs deeper. On the Thursday or Friday before, a series of often misinformed posts appear on social media that get amplified. Over the weekend, one of the loony-right posts a viral tweet saying action is needed.

Then on the Monday, Reform make an announcement that they have the silver bullet.

Democracies are like any civilisation. They fail due to Unsustainable complexity; Socioeconomic inequality; Economic collapse; Elite mismanagement; or Cognitive decline.

Join the dots.

Ah, but they might help him locate the... right buttons.

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this….

You, Sir, are expendable.

Storm Bram promises to be a doozy. A storm that promises a proper gothic night of horrors.

Storm Wubbo on the other hand suggests that we will all be knee deep in cuddly toys by morning.

You have to give some credit here.

I didn’t think it was possible to push the Trump Gold Sneakers out of last place.

But that isn't what I'm saying.

Are you saying that no white boys are ever victims?
August 25, 2025 at 2:35 PM
It's not gone away, human decency, the idea of fair play is still there, it is just that there are those who put a lot of time and money into trying to drown it out to suit their narrative that Britain is broken.
August 25, 2025 at 1:42 PM
They key word in your reply is 'belonging' which was the point I was rather clumsily trying to make.

There are those who are taking their sense of injustice and exclusion and exploiting it. Conveniently pointing the finger away from the real issues.

Having grown up in a town where there were Polish social clubs, and festivals to celebrate Polish culture were common place, I would be as appalled as if someone painted a red cross or 'Subhan Allah'.

I would still ask myself why before calling for their flogging.

There are parallels in the way that Islamists recruit new members, the way that gangs recruit new recruits, so no, this is not a race thing.

This is deflection as an excuse not to tackle the issues.
August 25, 2025 at 1:28 PM
No. I am saying that they have been failed. They are one group among many groups that have been failed.

Our inability to tackle redistribution of wealth over successive governments and to properly regulate capitalism has made them ripe for exploitation by extremists.
August 25, 2025 at 1:26 PM
We won't get to the root cause of the issues behind these behaviours if we decide to leap to the decision that they do not deserve to be saved because they have the temerity to decide to believe what they read in the murkier parts of social media or indeed what exploitative politicians feed them.
August 25, 2025 at 1:19 PM
No, we are enjoying a sunny Bank Holiday by playing the game of 'I am more deserving of victimhood because...'

Stereotyping is what we do when we meet strangers, it is the stereotype you choose to apply that can be the problem.

Large numbers of HUMANS in this country have been failed,
August 25, 2025 at 1:15 PM
There are many who prefer not to be reminded of the inequality that remains in this country.

It isn’t a comment about skin colour. Those lads would be stereotyped as yobs and gang members, to avoid being forced to consider that they had been failed by consecutive governments.
August 25, 2025 at 12:18 PM
I'm not sure I understand your point.
August 25, 2025 at 12:00 PM
The 'nationalism bandwagon' offers them a place where they are accepted and get some attention.

If you can't get fame, then infamy is a good substitute, especially if you are bombarded by messages in the media and some in the political elite that kind of support your world view of injustice.
August 25, 2025 at 6:41 AM
Yu have spent some time in Oundle this weekend. I hope you enjoyed it and you felt comfortable and welcomed.

Now imagine the reaction should one of those lads visited.

The same reaction they've had all their lives from those with the potential to make their lives better.
August 25, 2025 at 6:35 AM
Otto, you miss the point.

It isn't about the country, preserving a particular view of its culture, or making it great again.

It's much more personal, it is about the opportunity to feel you belong and that you are noticed.

If Trump wishes to hand this region to Russia, then the European defence industries would be further hamstrung by logistics and availability.

The US also relies on the same minerals.

My fear is that Trump has made a short sighted deal with Putin on access to these minerals.
