You're right. I was thinking of this as I was falling asleep. I really meant in the context of institutions such as museums. Context is important, in which case we can't presume to know what that individual would have wanted.

Yes, that's a good point but ignoring the debate about if they constitute human (homo spaien) remains, surely now there are other more interesting, innovative, and insightful ways of teaching.

As much as I 'enjoyed' looking at mummies when I was a child I can not think of ANY good reason human remains should be on public display unless those deceased persons requested it.
