Great article by @keawilson.bsky.social that digs into the fundamental principle of Vision Zero. Too many people think zero traffic deaths is impossible but it's been done and it has worked! Not just in Europe either; Jersey City, Edina...Hoboken has gone EIGHT YEARS without fatalities.

Whoa this is like Urbanists Avengers: Transit Oriented Development Endgame.
Our Costco is near a community college and a major hospital. A high rise on top would make a lot of sense.
This breaks some people’s brains.
In most cities, Costco stores fuel sprawl & car dependency.
In Vancouver, our full-sized downtown Costco has residential towers above & a skytrain station next door. LOTS of customers don’t drive to it.
We live a block from it. We call it “the convenience store.”

Happy to see this important safety program extended to RCSD school buses! Starting tomorrow drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus with lights flashing and the stop arm extended will be given a warning. Fines will be enforced beginning January 3rd.

When turning right, "attention is focused on oncoming traffic from their left — not on people walking across the street or waiting in the bike lane on their right. With their attention elsewhere, drivers are more likely to turn into people outside of cars who have the pedestrian signal to cross.”
