Covers the history and philosophy of a fight in the 80s & 90s between some postmodernists and scientists, with an eye to anarchist interests and lasting political influences among the far-right.

Today, one faction of reactionaries denounce leftists as enemies of science, while another faction of reactionaries happily embrace that same role, attacking science as totalitarian. Words like “postmodernism” and “relativism” get thrown about with fervor but little clarity, echoes of a conflict from decades ago. Is there actually a physical world and can we know anything about it? Did academics on the left influence “post-truth” politics on the right? How could supposed defenders of “science” get lost in a mire of transphobia?

One was they refused to acknowledge certain social factors that led to the growth of of the free birth society and led to it being such a social phenomenon. One one being the the massive um influence of gender ideology and all the other online birth spaces and that the free birth society was a refuge for women who were gender critical to be able to speak their minds about the mind [ __ ] of gender and to not be jumped on every time they used female language to talk about birth. So the free birth society Facebook group grew and grew and grew out of that issue. like it was it was a refuge of sanity for women in the birth world. They were absolutely unwilling to discuss that. They said it was, you know, basically a like every, you know, transcript from YouTube video 39:59-40:41 reads it's a toxic issue that they didn't want to they didn't want to even mention. And they refused to talk about COVID and how the social isolation of women that was imposed on them by the government was, was one of the reasons women flocked to online spaces and that the free birth society was the only big birth space and women's gathering space that was COVID critical as well. So women who disagreed with gender ideology and women who disagreed with the governmental response to COVID found a lot of um solidarity in free birth society and the Guardian authors weren't willing to to touch that. So I I just didn't want to talk to them. But

Having intersectional minority identities in the West does not, unfortunately, confer enhanced appreciation of nuance in identities abroad. Non-Western experiences and identities are ignored or flattened. One even finds people weaponize their minority status in the West against minorities abroad.
