This might be why: “The Globe quoted a source that said “the WNBA would rather save Boston as a potential expansion city in 2033.” That would mean the money from a new owner would go to the league and all of its owners instead of just the Mohegan Tribe.”

BREAKING: The $325 million offer made by a group led by Steve Pagliuca was accepted by the Mohegan Tribe and presented to Cathy Engelbert in July.

In case folks aren’t paying attention to it all, the league wants the Sun to go to an established NBA owner in Houston. And keep the Boston market in 2033 for the Celtics owner who right now doesn’t even have enough $$ to close the NBA deal, let alone get a WNBA team. Why? Money and control. 1/5

In case folks aren’t paying attention to it all, the league wants the Sun to go to an established NBA owner in Houston. And keep the Boston market in 2033 for the Celtics owner who right now doesn’t even have enough $$ to close the NBA deal, let alone get a WNBA team. Why? Money and control. 1/5
