It is other kinds too. In case you missed it, on 7/11 UVZ announced 'restructuring' to control costs that included c. 10% of jobs going. And they make tanks, railway wagons, heavy commercial vehicles, etc

Ah, just like that famous call "Unfavourable external factor ahead!" from the lookouts to the bridge on the Titanic.

Tbf it is a version of the 'management consultant' game... companies paying executives who spend company money on having other people tell them what they should do. Even though it's always 'cut costs and sweat assets'.

Yup. I think it would be instructive for them to workshop all the reasons why turning Jools Holland's Hootenanny into a 24/7 channel wouldn't be a good idea, even if they still had the same amount of money/hour to burn through.

👍Live coverage that's as bad as the old, pre-exit poll prediction GE days... filling the hours before the results roll in with politicians, pundits and/or celebs spouting off without even those figures to riff off. Just speculation and expectation/interpretation management. 🙄

And, obviously, the grid it's ultimately intended to run from is the USA's where 'locally' Tennessee generates 20% from coal and 20% from gas. Even if the additional load was theoretically covered 100% by renewables, in practice it still means phasing out the fossil element becomes more difficult. 😒
