You have twenty seconds.” Alderius snorted softly through his nose and replied, “Yes, sir,” with a smile. Staring at his watch, he counted to twenty seconds, making it aboard intentionally in nineteen.

Snippet from Sigils of Redemption: Gladiolus pointed to her red hair tie. “What is on your wrist?” “Uh...” “Come with me.” He took his mighty boar spear and bashed the pole into the floor with three mighty clangs. Four armored angels descended upon Thalia and grabbed her arms. She was forcefully flown away. No amount of kicking or shouting made the holy spirits loosen their tight grips. Into a high tower, she was locked in a round room and thrown to the floor. “Asshole!” Thalia screamed as she hopped up and ran to the door. Two of Gladiolus’ angels crossed the exit with their spears. Thalia growled in frustration. “Move!” Her demand was ignored. Cussing more, Thalia looked around the room. There was a crystal glass window looking out into a beautifully manicured garden full of flowers. Her prison was fully furnished, with draping silks and artful moldings. A vase on a table looked like it was made of gold. Thalia picked it up. It felt like real cold metal, but she wondered if this was illusionary, like her motorcycle. The only thing she was certain of was that it was heavy. She threw it at the window. One of the four angels caught the vase in midair. They stared Thalia down while calmly returning to the side of the window. In return, she flashed a rude hand sign and then sat down to collect her thoughts.

Snippet from page 257 of Sigils of Malice: Either way, this was becoming stupid. Time was running out. The floorboards were creaky. A gunshot fired from behind Thalia, causing her to jump in fear. A rune floated behind Mattias, where the bullet bounded off of him. Jorum stood backstage. “Let the dance begin!” Mattias’ voice reverberated in the same fashion as Calliope’s when she called forth spirits. He turned around, his eyes a freakish solid yellow, and music from the orchestra pit started to play. The room’s cacophony was painful, and thralls rushed to the stage. Thalia yanked on a spectral chain, but it felt impossible to break. She doubted even she and Edgar could do it together if they tried. The floor, on the other hand, was a lost relic of Omera’s cultural history that would not... (continued in next image) The previous snippet continued on page 258: and Alderius fell into the trap room below the stage. Initially, Thalia had intended to carry Alderius, chains, wood and all, when the floor was sufficiently broken. The chains shattering to dust was a far better outcome. Alderius tried saying something to Thalia, but she could not hear him. It hurt to let go of her ears and she was laughing from some bit of success today. He seemed to give up on talking through the noise and gave her a confused stare.

I can't ideally put my characters in a dating sim. Thalia doesn't know what she wants out of a relationship.

In an RPG, she'd be an urban ranger with a vagrant backstory (raised in the circus). Tabletop rules would be weird too, given she'd have high dex, but no stealth.

Chapter One Sanctuary by Design [REDACTED] was becoming accustomed to her role as a psychopomp, even if her lantern had turned her spirit into a glowing chauffeur. Upon a god gifted replica of a military style motorcycle, she escorted a squealing woman who clung to her back. The afterlife realm, Sanctuary City, started construction in the 16th century, and [REDACTED] had died in 1913. Ever expanding, sinners never ceased to keep adding to the forbidden city. Her charge was from a time before the modern vehicle, in a simple dress for farming. Her district mimicked the realm’s early days. To light the perpetual twilight city, this place had torches and candles, and the rough streets were designed to look worn down by cartwheels. To the young psychopomp, Sanctuary reminded her of a rustic painting, where all damage was predetermined by the artist. Nothing the goddess made could be tarnished by time.

I was looking up a painting someone cropped called the Death of Tristram, or Tristram's Death Bed by Harry Robert Mileham from 1902 to understand its context.

Sigils of Malice only takes place in the Imperial Capital of Grace. I did not think it needed the traditional map, since the story stands well without it.

Watchtower Cathedral is the centerpiece of the snippet and it's got many towers, smoke at the bottom, a strange clock, and gears for the vibe in the background. There little towns around it, most notable is a copper/turquois mine turned temple for Saint Zinnia.
