Landed back in the UK and was very excited to find a copy of the new book from @manongarcia.bsky.social in St. Pancras Station!

Yesterday I landed in Arizona for the 13th Oxford Studies in Political Philosophy Workshop. I'm currently working surrounded by hummingbirds while overlooking a swimming pool, which is definitely the most luxurious talk preparation I've ever done

I still don't know how to change the fact that when you Google me, you get this picture that we took for The Philosopher Queens publicity as a joke.

I'm in Bern this week teaching a short course to MA students on the ethics of refuge, and then it's the start of the term in Bristol. The summer is nearly over!

Excited to be at MANCEPT this week, giving a talk on being suspicious (of our students) for the Ethics of Higher Education panel. The prep so far has mostly involved finding silly pictures of dogs for my slides.

Oh thank goodness, I can now buy a print copy of the paper that I (and my co-authors) wrote, edited, and proofed for free, AND that my university paid thousands of pounds for in open access fees, for the mere price of *squints* $279.

Such a wonderful few days with so many lovely people. How lucky we are to get to do philosophy in the sunshine!

Ah, the torture stage of waiting for a journal decision

I had a wonderful time today at #JoFest, celebrating the career of @jowolff.bsky.social and his enormous influence on so many of us. Well done @shaiagmon.bsky.social and everyone else for wrangling all those philosophers and making everyone so sentimental

I'm going to Austria for a conference in August, and I have just been sent this photo of my accommodation (it's a convent)

Today the rights to The Philosopher Queens have reverted to me and Lisa. Soon you'll no longer be able to buy the book in the UK. We sold thousands of copies more than we ever expected, and we are so proud of this book.

Today's research took me back to my scans from the Shklar archive at Harvard. And so I rediscovered this letter from John Rawls in 1984, in which Rawls tells Shklar (Dita) how much he enjoyed reading her book "Ordinary Vices"

My new book, The Way Out, is now available for pre-order!

Written with my co-author Samuel Ritholtz, we ask what justice requires for LGBTQ refugees by centring the lives of queer and trans people experiencing displacement in the political theory of refuge.
