So lucky!!! I'm happy I could see it!

Wish I could have gone!! Comic shops where I live have basically disappeared (and never carry so much small press stuff like this) so this was still mind blowing!

Truly unbelievable lol but that's my luck... My travel buddy was madder than me, we both researched it for weeks to make sure it was in the public show and accessible and she was genuinely in disbelief. I was just like "Ah. Of course."

I did still have a great time! I saw a lot of art!!

Saw a lot of other amazing art & had a great experience overall, I love this art but I saw a lot of other art that I loved. I know artworks can go on and off display frequently so I knew I might not see it. Didn't expect to be gaslit by the guy up front telling me that it didn't close early lol.

I’m so baffled by it! Internet art from 20 years ago can be difficult to source, especially international work from countries where artists hide their identities, and contacting the source would be even harder at the rate people move and change usernames, but it doesn’t just make the art free use.

Like a zine using official art is one thing but using other artists work is not great unless it’s with permission, if I’m wrong I’ll go back and buy it immediately because if it’s all ethical this is an amazing book

The Black Lamb was Will; he was a sacrificial creature that eventually emerged as a wolf in a sheep's skin :))

I've struggled with writing in fanbooks, but it's because most of the books eventually upgrade into huge hardcover tomes and the price per page is so expensive. I think if people moved back to the star trek zine type era then writing would be much more affordable and make more sense to include.

Honestly if I ran a collab zine I would not bother with a charity, donating is good and kind but I'd want all the artists to get paid 😭 The amount of zines that barely reward the artists for participating....

I arrived at this conclusion too, I was venting about it a little to a friend and we realized... They get to control who can be in it, what can be in it, and at the end they get an expensive book with their own art in it and a bunch of art that they curated just to their taste? Yeah...

I've been pleasantly surprised since becoming more active on bsky that I'm not constantly running into them, so maybe I've fooled myself into thinking it was becoming a less popular stance. I did subscribe to all the big ant block lists that I could find, so maybe it's that...

I dipped on fandom in general because of it. My favorite thing used to be looking up new artists to follow after seeing a new show/movie/ship that I liked and I just kept running into asshole behavior. Just wanted to enjoy art.
