Does he have sufficient self-awareness that he maybe ought not run again? I remember he did some good stuff as Lt Gov. He's not the same man since the stroke. I wish him happiness and success in his post-Senate life.

The Senate can expel one of its own. The House can impeach and the Senate conducts a (not criminal) trial. There is no mechanism for a recall. Both paths require 67 votes.

Outside the US and for 15 years, I've lived in 3 countries in as many continents and I can assure you that Americans are not unique in this regard. We're not so special that way. I would say it's the perfect definition of politics more generally.

I remember when he, as Lt.Gov., flew a rainbow flag outside his capitol office. He was told he had to take it down. He did and taped it to the inside of his window. That was before the stroke. Since then, I think it affected him in ways no one could foresee. I don't think he's the same guy anymore.
