I would laugh if I wasn't afraid of nuclear war

I never in a million years thought I would ever have to even contemplate living through a depression but here we are. My grandparents are probably looking down on this country that they both loved so much in complete and utter horror. It is just heartbreaking and so many of us feel so powerless.

My grandparents lived through the great depression, they were both children at the time. My grandmother up until her death would reuse paper towels and wash plastic utensils because she knew what it was like to live through a depression. And I know she never wanted that for me.

The people currently running the government are destroying it and are destroying our country and before we know it we are probably going to be in a depression worse than the one in the 1930s.

If these tariffs destroy my husband's business, he will have to give up on his lifelong dream that he has been working at for the last 12+ years. Our future will be uncertain and we will not know if we can keep our house or support our children or put food on the table.

I paid into Social Security, this is my money and I deserve access to it. I worked my ass off from right out of college. I am a hard worker with a very traditional work ethic. I deserve to be supported by my country when I am facing hardship.

If you still think these tariffs are a good idea I invite you to engage with me and learn about me and my family. We are real people. I worked in healthcare administration for 15 years I am not living on easy street off of the government

If my husband's industry is destroyed and he has to close his business, if we're lucky, we will have to survive on my measly disability check. That is if disability is not destroyed before then. This could be disastrous for my family and millions of other families throughout the country.

I just got disability in December of 2024, which I will have to redo in December of 2025, if disability still exists at that point. I'm physically unable to work right now, I'm a cancer survivor with several other physical health issues and my healthcare is a full time job.
