It's possible that an impeachment based on complete bullshit and one where there is a long list of clearly illegal acts that everyone hated would be received differently.

I think this is a defeatist and simply wrong take. Most of the true believers may refuse to see reality, but they are at most 30% of the country. The normal people that don't pay a ton of attention to politics are going to hate this.

100%. The people who argue against using tools we have now to avoid deaths so we can focus solely on solutions that will take decades to fully implement are not being serious.

But I think there is value in dragging them in front of Congress and laying out all of their malfeasance. When the GOP all vote to acquit, drag them for it.
