He was my drinking buddy, my coworker, my household companion, and my foot warmer at night.

Life will be very different without him.

You follow your sportsball team; you have spent hours studying their every move; you know every stat, every player, their histories. You talk about how your teams did last night during meetings at work openly.

But I have one passing comment about Tolstoy in our work chat room and I’m the nerd?

This is awesome..

MIT has built a camera so fast it can capture light itself. The camera records at 1 trillion frames per second, allowing scientists to slow down the fastest thing in the universe and watch it move through a scene. 👏👏👏👏😎💙

This is masculinity too
I love this so much and I am absolutely tearing up about it. The gentleness and plainness of this, the way he just lets her be her (and she seems so damn lovely, who wouldn’t?), the generosity.

It isn’t going to solve the world’s problems, but this kind of humanity is a hell of a start.

Dear Screenwriters and Producers:

Not everything has to be a series, you know.

Sometimes it can just be a ~2 hour movie, FFS.

White men everywhere: There are 3 rules at work: 1. Female coworkers deserve your respect and to be free of harassment, you know, just like any dude. 2. If you ask her out on a date and she says no, you’re friends. 3. And what was that last thing? Oh, right, DON’T TAKE OUT YOUR DICK.
I have not noticed this phenomenon.

Poo-tee-tweet?
Now that I'm having these 3 hr infusions again, I decided to do more reading. I've recently had the urge to reread Vonnegut after 50 yrs. On page one the reason that I loved his books so long ago was instantly apparent. Dark subject matter but in such a "comforting" style, if that makes any sense.

“This guy handed me a picture of him. He said, "Here's a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture is of you when you were younger. "Here's a picture of me when I'm older.", "You son of a bitch! How'd you pull that off? Let me see that camera!"
Everyone has one Mitch Hedberg joke stashed in their brain like a squirrel to sustain them whenever they need to feel joy for 30 seconds and mine is “they say the recipe for Sprite is Lemon and Lime but I tried to make it at home, there’s more to it than that”

When I was a kid, there was a guy who just filmed tractors doing tractor things. No commentary. It was like a 2 hour VCR tape you could buy. My younger brothers were glued to that tv and watched it over and over. Dude prob made a million dollars.

Two words:

Zombie whale.
How does an 18-foot-long, 2,000-pound carcass just disappear?

That question has puzzled some divers and photographers who regularly plunge into the waters off San Diego.

Developmentally, anything taught to children before the age of, let’s say 11, is by definition indoctrination, so this is the usual willfully ignorant conservative hypocrisy. Not sure who he’s trying to fool; the message would have been the same if he had left out the “liberal indoctrination” part.

I’ve found that 90% of people who claim to be Libertarian are of the “I use coded phrases that really mean I don’t want my taxes going to certain demographics” and also say nothing about US Military waste, “border security”, the cost of enforcing anti-abortion laws . . .
My colleague Randy "the Libertarian" Barnett is over at the other site approvingly quoting Christian nationalists, arguing that NGOs should be "banned," and suggesting that Harvard should lose its tax-exempt status because its ideological "sickness" is akin to Bob Jones's racial discrimination.
