Hey, reviewers, avoid this author like the plague. Reviewer intimidation, expectation an ARC buys preferential treatment, telling readers not to disclose ARC. #booksky

I really loved The Secret Lives of Church Ladies, by Deesha Philyaw! A rare anthology where every story was amazing and every second of listening to the audiobook made me glad I'm a book girl. (Janina Edwards narrates.) #booksky

“The whole point of prosperity is so you can protect people."

This is spot on. Half of the world is glorifying wealthy people and excusing their wickedness, no matter what they do. The only God they worship is money.

I just experienced a discussion where people dead-ass said Grady Hendrix books don't contain humor, and I'm not okay. Are they related to the people who stand in front of bookshelves filled with dystopian fantasy and say books aren't political? #booksky

Twice today, elsewhere, I've responded to someone's post with a word that sums it up and they're like "I never used that word" instead of meaningfully continuing the discussion.

Them: So I feel this clears them of all wrongdoing.
Me: I don't feel they're absolved...
Them: Never said absolved.

I refuse to apologize for who I am or the love I share with my husband. But living proud in a world that wants us silent is exhausting. What happened to Jonathan Joss was a reminder that being visible can cost us everything. What is the balance between being proud and staying alive?

On Sunday, my friend, Jonathan Joss was murdered and it took me a minute to find the words...

Like so many of our lives, Jonathan's existed at the powerful intersections of Indigeneity, queerness, visibility, and vulnerability. He was fierce, funny, flawed, and real in every way that mattered.
