Thanks, I didn't know that until I learned it in this thread.
But now I am even more confused about what they think they see in writings from that era. (And, for that matter, what exactly they have been reading, but I'm not investing a lot of cycles in tracking either of them.)

I had never heard of Blinkist and now I have, so that was both hilarious and educational.

I keep coming back to the idea that Silicon Valley thinks that it's luminaries have extremely high general intelligence and that their success isn't domain specific and ho boy, it absolutely is.

1870-1930(ish)...yeah, Anna Karenina, The Jungle, The Great Gatsby, Brave New World, all icons of alpha-ism.

When over when? Is this year on year in Q3?

Shockley definitely counts.

Don't know if this plan achieves that or not.

I didn't see a timeline, is there one? And how much of this is committed v. Pie in the sky planning?

Do I understand right that they want to consolidate the existing three terminals into one big new terminal with a big core and four arms, that will sit where they have a bunch of ramp space right now?
I know squat about aircraft operations but cutting down taxiing time would certainly be a win.

First half of that is full of platitudes, but the figures are interesting (if low res and not well suited to mobile, but that's always my complaint in this country).

Thanks, I figured there must be, but hadn't seen that!

I don't know that...

The late night departures from HND are often a win. I guess they can't do the same at NRT because the late arrivals at NRT limit transport options.
November 9, 2025 at 8:35 AM
I have to leave the house 4.5-5 hours before an NRT flight, or about 3 hours before an HND flight, though I still usually end up with more time at the gate at HND.
Total time is shorter, but with the standing and train hassles wear and tear is about the same.

Woohoo, I got to sit at Kamata! Usually not until after Yokohama.

NRT looks...worn. Dated. The newer terminals at HND are definitely nicer. It's time to update NRT both in looks and functionality and improve people flow. Too many bottlenecks and sad, uninspiring halls for immigration.

Getting off the plane to on the train is much quicker than NRT. But NRT has a Starbucks where I can get my matcha latte and chill with it on the train.
