The missus and I have taken the kids out to celebrate BYODCP (buy your own darn Christmas presents). They've each got a budget and they have to wrap their haul as soon as we get home. I kind of feel like a genius right now. Not gonna lie.

High on the list of "things I love about my family" is the fact that random strangers are always welcome at holidays and gatherings. Zero questions asked, no awkward permission-seeking required. If you find someone that's alone for Thanksgiving and wants to borrow the family, it's already done.

No, eBay. It didn't "get away," it sold for well over my valuation and I wasn't about to chase the thing. Patience is a buyer's best weapon. But hey, good for the seller. A nice treat for them.

My own personal health insurance cost went up by $960 this year. For only myself, I will pay roughly $6000 in health insurance premiums in 2026. I haven't calculated the rest of my family yet, but it's a lot. If you live in a country with socialized healthcare, fight to keep it.
