Oliver Twist, what a shame. Put himself out there in front of everyone. And for what? Some gruel? A man must live on his feet. I would gladly kill or die for gruel but I would never let it drive me.

A mountain bluebird taken last spring.
I’ve always particularly struggled getting good shots of these guys, they seem to taunt me. I’ll find one posing perfectly, raise my camera, try to get it framed up, and it’s gone.

To capture this shot, I laid belly-down in icy winter mountain runoff. I stayed as long as I could bear the cold.
Brutal at the time, but I love that now I have a photo not just of a dipper, but of a memory.

This bird caused quite a stir in northern Colorado this summer. After a large storm, this bird was spotted with a flock of white-faced ibises. Many local birders think it was a glossy ibis blown way off course, but not all were convinced. What does the #birds community think? Glossy or white-faced?
