From yesterday’s workshop on micro-memoir. Part of a programme developed by LGBTQ+ for LGBTQ+ asylumseekers in NL. At the end of this programme the participants will make 10 moving portraits. #movinglove #workshop #micromemoir with thanks to Karlijn Milder for this photo from my workshop.

Ootd. Wearing a woven shawl handed down to me from my Mom and my favorite hat. On the road to Amsterdam Zuid. 😊

The second print I bought was an A4 print of A flight of Birds by Jenni Coutts. I fell quite in love with this one and couldn't stop staring at it and wishing I had the bucks for the original piece. But the print is very lovely and Jenni signed it for me. #art

I thought I'd share the first of two prints that I got from the World Fantasy art show. This one is a lovely gilded print called The Wisp Warden by Sophie Jonas Hill. It made me think of the living trees, hence why I got it. #art

Won the bidding for this lovely piece of art from Northern Magpie Art. It’s now hanging in my workspace. 😊

This image from Donna Haraway’s Staying With the Trouble is so good, I felt a need to share. #amreading

A friend lent me this beautiful book to read. This Accident of Being Lost by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson. It is more than good. #reading

Thinking back to our last day in Norway and how we were surprised by this stunning waterfall along road from Oppheim.

Currently reading Édouard Glissant’s Treatise on the Whole-World translated by Celia Britton. And I am thinking of how valuable translators are (not AI translate) but human translators who think along with the text. #readingtranslatedwork

Just dropping by to share two beautiful badges from the Clarion West writeathon. A special shoutout to my dear friend, Vicki Saunders for your lovely words and for the support--thank you so much. I don't think you're on bluesky, but I hope someone will tell you.

Made a poster/zine together with the group in SpringSchool at the VU. Really enjoyed this workshop. Also loved learning from the talk given by Doctora Paulina Trejo Mendez. In typical me fashion, I forgot to ask for for a picture together. 😭

Had fun in portrait class today. This is my attempt at a colorful watercolor portrait. The great thing about watercolors is the invitation to just play.

Practice with values using 3 shades of watercolor.

Exercise in value. I was surprised to find I could freehand a face by shading in where lights and darks are. Using pastels in 3 colors. Went better than I expected.

Sharing one of the treasures from my book collection. Maria Sibylla Merian was one of the first people to ever document insects with drawing. I couldn’t resist this book when I saw it at an art sale. More on her at en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_S...

3 days of elephant sounds like a fun title for this. 10 minutes 3 days in a row of elephant. 😆

So happy about this plant. When I got it, it was a tiny thing. I’m wondering if I need one of those thick sticks to hold up the branches now that it’s grown bigger. I also need to repot it. It took time, but I now know how to take proper care of indoor plants. #happythings

Added a stronger background before going on with layering. Also sent my teacher a question about teeth and eyebrows and what to do when you make a mistake. I also got my first request to make a portrait of someone. It feels like a milestone somehow.

Three scribbles from this morning’s art exercise with blind drawing. It was so freeing and fun and I had a laugh afterwards. Esp as I have also been trying to think of how I might draw the characters from my story in De Komeet. #artpractice
