Wheat drilled into a legume fallow. Continuous living roots for the past 13 months have made a real difference to the soil in this field.

First boiling from the garden. Very happy with these as the seed was some supermarket prepacked spuds that got lost at the back of the cupboard and had 3" sprouts.

Apropos of nothing. My favourite ever photo that I took. Photo bombed by poultry

Looks similar to the one I found on an environmental margin last week.
I'm told it is a southern marsh orchid.
(Found in the North on a very dry hillside 😀)

Safe to say, you can cast a clout.
May blossom seems particularly spectacular this year.
I think the trend for bi-annual hedge cutting is reflected in the hedgerows now.

Organised a bit of a do for clients yesterday. Managed to put together a really good lineup of speakers including Alastair Trickett (NSch), Joe Martlew (NIAB), @angusgowthorpe plus Ben and Mike of @EdaphosAgronomy
and thanks to Joe Clarke for hosting a farm visit.

3 wks ago this wheat was being grazed by slugs as fast as it grew. Slug pellets were ineffective as they were mainly the tiny juvenile slugs that don't seem to eat them.
Applied potassium silicate, fulvic acid and a seaweed extract. The new growth is mostly untouched by the slugs.
