As a US immigrant living and working in Denmark, I started keeping this wretched diary on my phone some weeks ago. A private grief log. Just a line at a time, to record what is happening as I try to go about a normal day.

I'm in a talk about mind wandering, and my mind is wandering to the fact that full-blown State Capture is underway in my country of origin. In the course of a seminar on applying for incremental salary increases (=3.000 USD/year), Elon Musk's net worth increases by $23.11 million USD. While inputting receipts into the University's byzantine accounting system, I am wondering how many people were rounded up like cattle today in my old neighbourhood in Chicago. While grading a thesis, 2 million US federal workers receive a rogue email offering a bribe in exchange for resignation. While fixing a bug in some code, US Aid is dismantled and 10,000 humanitarian workers are unemployed. On the way to Danish class, there is braking news: the President suggests ethnically cleansing Gaza to create a coastal resort.
