Ha! Just last year I found a deGrom shirsey on clearance for under $10 at the same Marshall’s. I wonder if Stearns is headed there to check the clearance rack for pitchers.

Darryl had a short-lived sports bar in Douglaston by the LIRR station called Strawberry’s Sports Grill. I passed it often but never stepped inside. I know he was there pretty often because I have friends that got to meet him there.

I was in Marshall’s in Manhasset Long Island last week and they didn’t have a single Mets item yet they had an endless supply of Yankees gear. Either all the Mets merch flew off the shelves (yeah right!) or the buyer for that store has Yankees Bias.

Darryl is the #1 reason I’ve been a Mets fan since I was a kid. He was larger than life-like a bona fide superhero. I’ll never forget the first time I saw him hit a HR at Shea- I remember thinking the bat looked like a flimsy toothpick in his hands and the sound of the ball coming off the bat was 🙌🏻

One of my all-time faves until the DV incident which was shocking. That aside, Reyes was one of the most exciting players I’ve ever seen. The “Reyes Run” was coined because he manufactured so many runs with his speed. And for a completely random fun fact, he was on the cover of ESPN’s body issue.

I’ve met Tim twice-once in summer camp back in the ‘90s-and a couple years ago at Citi Field. The second time, he said “nice to meet you” so of course I mentioned that we had met 30 years earlier when I was a camper. Made him laugh. I didn’t get a pic the first time but I did the second time.

Ugh. I’m not hopeful that today’s Congress is capable of getting their shit together, let alone over the next two months. But hey, sooo glad the Senate snuck in a provision allowing some Republican senators to sue the government for up to $500,000 for being investigated in connection to Jan 6.
