"Well, here I am girls, move over."

Blocking crypto accounts and anyone with "financial advisor" in their profiles.
All I can say is, Belle Watling did it better.

Just finished reading this masterful bio of #MagnusHirschfeld. The most heartbreaking moment came near the end. Unsuspecting, in a Paris cinema, Magnus saw a newsreel of the looting and burning of his Berlin institute — his life's work. "He descended into what he termed "the deepest psychic shock."

Also, behold Frankenmae! All that remains of a rather beat-up foamcore figure of #MaeWest I was given by a friend in graduate school. The head is all that remains.

Last week I got to visit the Louvre. This is my photo of visitors viewing the Mona Lisa. Most of the first floor was crazy.

Reading today's news about the wildcat strike by Louvre staff, I don't blame them one bit. Solutions are needed NOW, not long term.

Now this is the sort of juxtaposition I can get behind.

As seen at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, Kehinde Wiley flanked by Gainsborough and Reynolds.

Who knew, today is the anniversary of the death of the Marchesa Luisa Casati, which I learned when I found her grave yesterday at Brompton Cemetery.

Notorious party giver and eccentric bankrupt, I first learned about the "mad marchesa" from Cecil Beaton's The Glass of Fashion. #london #grave

Tonight being the anniversary of the sinking of the #Titanic, it's appropriate to post this #cenotaph that I discovered last week in the #cemetery near my home. Apparently Mr. Williams was awakened by his business partner by "didn't think it worthwhile to get up." #rmstitanic #foresthillscemetery

#bookoftheday: #WhiteHouse Landscapes, by Barbara McEwan, a history of the grounds of the WH up to ~1980s. Who knew the President's Park used to be shaped like a guitar?

Bought at Tim's Used #Books, Provincetown, one sunny, windswept April day in the mid-1990s.

Sold in the book sale.

#bookoftheday: Story of the Wreck of the Titanic: The Ocean's Greatest #Disaster, 1912 Memorial Edition.

Seems appropriate given the news.

Sold in the book sale last month, but I still have many Titanic books left.

#bookoftheday: Backward Ran Sentences: The Best of Wolcott Gibbs from The New Yorker. Unjustly forgotten, his bio of Henry Luce in Timespeak includes the immortal line "Backward ran sentences until reeled the mind."

A gift from a colleague in the 2010s. Sold in the book sale.

#bookoftheday: The Complete Annotated #GilbertandSullivan, introduced and edited by Ian Bradley. A Christmas gift in the 1990 from one of my best friends. Alas, I have never once actually referred to it, so it's time to move it forward into the universe.
