OPINION/LA Times: "...autism is back in the national spotlight [feat. debunked science]. But it isn’t the misinformation that troubles me the most. It’s hearing people talk about autistic lives without including us. It’s the subtext that the world would be better off without autistic people in it."

If the government is in shut-down mode, why are ICE agents still making (illegal) arrests? Does this mean they're doing this without pay?

The rhetoric, and the damage done: "The Trump admin’s declaration that it has finally 'discovered the cause of autism' and is blaming it on something as common as acetaminophen...is not just scientifically baseless, it’s a direct threat to decades of hard-fought advocacy by and for autistic people."
The rhetoric, and the damage done - Medical Republic
We need to take Mr Trump’s claims seriously, because we're going to be dealing with the impacts for a long time.

Ableist does not mean “able-bodied” or “non-disabled.”

Ableist means discriminatory against those with disabilities.

Both non-disabled and disabled people can be ableist.

Stop saying “retard.”
It’s not “just a word.” It’s a slur.

That word has been weaponized for decades to dehumanize people with intellectual & developmental disabilities. Using it doesn’t make you edgy. It makes you an ableist. Period.
