Asparagus crop starting to peak.
The red an are Sweet Purple grown from seed and now 3 or 4 years down the road.
Definitely a different taste to the green varieties….nice though.

It is always a good day when you learn some thing new.
I had always presumed that the small worker bumble bees you saw in spring were young.
And so they are because they are the first brood raised by the Queen all by herself with limited food sources hence the small size and they remain that size.

Meanwhile while weeding a corner (that I step over daily) I upset a nest of paper wasps, one which stung me as I observed them trying to see where the nest entrance was. Big mistake for them. Carbaryl is very effective. No movement now.
