I think the thing you are failing to grasp is nuance. Qui Gon is flawed, yes, but so are Obi Wan and Yoda and Luke. This does not mean that Qui Gon and Luke do not possess a quality they lack.

In Dune, Paul uses the Guild’s ability to see the future to control them. They cannot take risks, for fear of potential harm. Paul threatens to destroy the Spice and they take the threat seriously bc they know there is a possibility he will follow through. This is essentially what the Jedi are doing

What about the story treatments that George Lucas created for the sequel trilogy? Doesn’t Disney have a moral obligation to release those too according to this standard?

THAT BEING SAID the argument that the rest of the films “NEED” to be preserved is absolute BS
Do we really need R2 without a rock in front of his face in HD? Does cloud city’s white walls require higher resolution? Do we need “bring my shuttle” in 4K? Art these shots really about “preserving art”?

Exactly. Their strategy is to appeal to as many fans as possible by targeting each demographic of the fandom with a different project. That’s why you get shows like Andor made alongside shows like Young Jedi Adventures. They’re trying to have something for everyone
