Thank you for your patience as I offer input. A good avenue to get this built might be to contact the Central Texas Bluegrass Association (or the one nearest you) and see if there's a small luthier / amateur who wants to complete this... maybe a kind of pro bono deal. Questions welcome always

I could be wrong (certainly have been)... but it appears to be a "kit guitar" (from say Stewart McDonald or others similar) due to the simplicity of the appointments, the look of the interior bracing and the fret board woods. These are helpful to
early / amateur builders who are developing.

IMHO-
It is pretty basic in its appointments, which is not necessarily bad... but would definitely need a superior sound as it is not a named manufacturer(Gibson, Martin...etc.)
There is much a luthier could do if the box has a good thump, but all these dress-up inlays and such add to the cost.

Hi C,
Saw all the photos.
yes, a luthier could complete this instrument. A guess from photos is that when complete...the instrument will have an approx. value between $700-1250... IDK... maybe a bit more... but honestly would be difficult to sell due to the availability of so many in that range.

Can't say if it would be cost effective for you unless an
inspection is done of all parts, but I would suggest that a luthier (like me) would be a better fit than a guitar builder... who would likely decline because they only build and repair their own.
Want to send photos?
If not...best, ray

Hi C,
First... very sorry for your loss. Wish you and your family the very best. Yes... a seasoned luthier could take that partially built instrument and complete it... and IMHO it would be your dad's final instrument... because the soundbox is complete.
I'm in California.
