There is a story of a widow woman & her daughters, Snow White & Rose Red, the most darling little girls who had ever lived.

This is not—quite—that story.

Good news we have hot water, bad news this shit was expensive
Please buy my books? Definitely need to sell a few dozen (hundred sob) copies
Plumber confirmed that the fuses blowing yesterday was due to the water heater and we need a new water heater. I did find the fuse for the water heater itself so we're good heating wise
(last night we had no light or heating in half the flat, which is less fun).
Wheee
Please buy my books?

I feel the same way, this has bothered me since I first saw it. I suppose it's the mask drop, the sheer infantile maliciousness of it. He's a petty little vicious sociopath and boy, does he hate women.
I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

Interesting thread of some gorgeous items.
Long ago on the hell site I made long list of historically interesting things to use in dnd ttrpgs and I'll start dragging them over here starting with

2000 years-old sapphire ring presumably belonged to Roman emperor Caligula, depicting his fourth wife Caesonia.

We've been spending time this weekend in Where Winds Meet, and it's both gorgeous and has a really immersive story. Combat is fun, UI needs a bit of work, and there is a ton of depth and things to do. F2p, cosmetic cash shop. Really loving this.

Eeeek. Let's see if I can do some work before the lights go out, as they're flickering right now. (Not using the UPS that I normally use as we were trying to diagnose some computer or power issues.)

We bought a Ninja Foodi air fryer which is driving me insane because it loudly beeps ALL the time. No way to prevent it from doing so. We used to also have the Samsung washing machine further down the thread with the improbably long, cheery little tune. Cute the first time, then it wears on you. :D
My opinion of modern technology is that everything needs to beep less

"They call it a city of progress, but to me, it’s just a graveyard lit by gaslight. You can almost hear the city breathing - hungry, restless, waiting for the next soul to burn out. And those who still believe in justice wear masks to keep the dark from recognizing them..."

Our part of town has been pretty quiet (aside from one almighty boom last night, lord knows what they actually set off). Even the neighbours behind our place who normally have a party with a ton of fireworks were quiet. That was a huge relief because they've hit our house in past years. :/

Gee whiz you guys, I'm starting to think chortlingly uploading AI slop of you literally dumping planeloads of shit on the American populace to the resounding silence of your party and supporters might be a bad move!

We have two black cats and this year I bought bat wings for them. I was really excited to take some adorable pictures, but the one cat whom we managed to actually get the wings on sat there so miserably that we didn't bother. She wouldn't look at me for the rest of the night. Sigh...

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you have friends struggling through the shutdown, consider inviting them over for a family dinner this week. Make too much. Insist they take leftovers home. Some folks can't say they need help out loud but will appreciate the kindness.

The worst version of myself from high school? Ugh, but I suppose that tracks. Still the overachiever with good grades and friends, all bright and shiny but secretly self-harming like mad while pretending that everything is fine. I hate that girl.
"it turns everyone into the worst version of themselves from high school"is still the most accurate social media theory of all time
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

Day what, a bajillion and seven? of feeling really unwell, but not obviously unwell enough that I could convince a GP to care about it. Months, anyway. Really fatigued and lowkey nauseous, headaches, etc. I'm sick of it, but not yet willing to try to get an appointment only to be told the usual.

Such sad news this morning. I loved this book.
Baek Sehee, the author of I WANT TO DIE BUT I WANT TO EAT TTEOKBOKKI has passed away. She was 35.

The Korean organ donation authority reports that Sehee saved five lives through her donation of her heart, lungs, liver, and both kidneys.
