Dancing Bull told the group about his brother, who submitted a paper on Sacagawea for a history project. “He wrote his version, which was our version,” he said, “and he got an F.”

this quixotic pursuit of truth (school grade be damned) , seems very american......

The new Queensboro walkway could be washed, it is really grimy. delaying it for a few years wasn't enough time. @nycdot.bsky.social should add more signage in the neighborhood to help people find the entrance. Massive upgrade to the cycling and walking experience, major upgrade to the bridge

This was such a satisfying project, and one in which I realized for the first time how much my whole life had been spent in a manscape, in places where almost everything was named after men.
#WomensHistoryMonth: The City of Women Map is a fascinating visualization of women’s history and urban transportation. Created by Molly Roy, Rebecca Solnit, and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro, the map renames subway stops after notable women with links to that area, offering an entirely new way to view #NYC.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the best case scenario is to have nearby neighbor volunteers “adopt” a seed dispersal station.

If you live in Philadelphia and are willing to adopt a station, which involves checking it every day and refilling with seed packs (that I will provide), lmk.

I'm largely paraphrasing the human rights lawyer @michaelsfard.bsky.social, who is key in this case & many others:

A thing that happens a lot in Israel is that settler orgs + the Rabbinate take over properties in East Jerusalem owned by Jews before 1948, to "Judaize" the Palestinian part+
Settlers seized an East Jerusalem home. They didn't know who they were messing with
