Call of the Night
S1 of this was artistically stunning but narratively lightweight until the last couple episodes. S2 takes a shocking leap forward in plot development and has become one of my favorite things all year. I love this show's art, its writing, and its soundtrack is like nothing else. S.

The Colors Within
I knew nothing about this movie going in, and after watching I still don't really know what it was. Super queer-coded but not a romance, unexpectedly Catholic but weirdly wholesome, it comes out of left field just wanting to tell you everything is gonna be okay. I loved it. S.

Luther
This show starts with a dead dog and doesn't improve from there. I watched a full season expecting it to get better, but it wore out my patience despite an excellent cast. Idris Elba's character is kind of just a dumb asshole. I dropped it shortly into S2 so no grade overall, but S1 gets a D.

The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor
I tried this because its premise was similar to other, much better shows.

At 24 minutes per episode and 12 episodes per cour, the average single-cour anime is 4 hours 48 minutes long. So this anime owes me 4 hours and 48 minutes of my life back. F.

Secrets of the Silent Witch (LNs)
Everything great about the anime is also true of the LNs, but there's more of them. My sole complaint about the anime is that it feels rushed compared to more high budget adaptations like Apothecary Diaries—they could have adapted more. I love these books. Also A+

Secrets of the Silent Witch
I already posted about this but I love it very much. Like Bocchi but the heroine gets to heal and improve instead of just being a cryptid. Bocchi had a bit of that, but for Witch it's basically the thesis. It's just really comforting. A+ and I dearly hope it gets an S2.

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman
A middle aged dad anime for geriatric millennials, which is now most of us. I surprisingly enjoyed this—the main character is very likable—but it does itself a disservice through heavy CG use. Anime shouldn't look like RWBY. B, but could have been an A-

My Dress-Up Darling
S2 of this just ended. As a studio Cloverworks excels at elevating its source material, so it's astronomic when the source is already perfect. This is one of my all time favorites and peak modern anime romance. If the wait for S3 is too long read the manga (which is perfect)! S+

If you see this, quote with a robot that isn't from "star trek", "star wars", "dr who", or "transformers"

Vivy Fluorite Eyes Song my beloved. She just wants to sing, forced to prevent the apocalypse instead.
