The first #healthcare domino has fallen: a clinic in rural Nebraska is closing due to Medicaid cuts. And, predictably, the Trump-voting residents don't think the guy they voted for caused this. The low-information voter is the most dangerous part of the political machine in the USA.

A clinic blames its closing on Trump’s Medicaid cuts. Patients don’t buy it.
A clinic in rural Nebraska has become a political flash point after tying its looming closure to Trump’s law cutting Medicaid.

To the many people I have read about who are now expressing regret at having voted for Trump, I am sorry you were misled. But the best and most effective thing you can do now is to become an advocate in your community to let people know what’s going on and to get the truth out. Organize people.

Also, just wanted to say that the news is coming at us so fast right now. So much is changing in the federal government that in less than a week, @jodiscohen.bsky.social and I have written 3 stories documenting shifts at ED. In case you missed it, this one's about DOGE-led dismantling of the IES.

I am truly angry and frustrated at what's going on. Someone without clearance has access to my personal government information. My friends and colleagues who are transgender or non-hetero are under attack. We're ripping money, goods, and services from some of the poorest countries. All for what?

I appreciate when people put up Medium articles and DON'T put a paywall up. It gives me access to your knowledge and makes me consider a bit more of what you might offer behind a few bucks.

Bought myself a guitar to learn on. Figured the more outlets I have, the less likely I will be perusing PhD programs. That's how it works, right?
