I would be shocked if more than 5% of the "Democrats gave up and it's all over now" crowd have ever spent even an hour doing anything other than post

For one thing, Andy Harris has said he'll vote no in the House if they strike it, which would probably be lights out for it assuming max 1 dem vote

He got his seat by taking out a long time incumbent that had held it since about the time Ferguson was born in a primary.

The primary giveth, the primary taketh away.

He sure is mad about supposedly winning, isn't he?

Especially when the Republican plan to avoid those costs was "we'll send you a coupon sometime that can't be used to pay for premiums"

I'm seeing a lot of "if Senate Dems knew they were dealing with nihilists, why did they even start a game of chicken", and it's like, that is why. To show the entire country that Republicans are willing to burn it all down no matter how many millions of people suffer.

Well yes, shutdowns as negotiating strategies are bad plans when you have no leverage to actually win any concessions

Yeah, and they immediately appealed to avoid issuing those payments. the ACA subsidies were never going to be extended. The votes to extend them do not exist in the Senate or the House to overcome a Trump veto, so what's the endgame where Democrats "win" on it?

How many millions of people are you willing to cut food aid off from to test that theory though?

Honestly the dumbest person who has ever held elected office

Mike Lee McCaining it because he's morally opposed to SNAP funding would be a really cherry on top of this whole exercise

I don't understand what people were expecting? Keep voting no until Trump disappears into the void? At a certain point, there are diminishing returns. We nuked the Republican parties of VA & NJ and will get a Dem gerrymander of California. That's not nothing.

"in favor of a negotiated deal" is definitely not the same as "in favor of the negotiated deal"

I'm starting to think the goal is to pass *anything* out of the Senate and kick it to Johnson to try to cobble the votes to pass it on a party line in the house which is...not easy

It's addition by subtraction. Great Dakota is what the people there deserve.

I'm a big fan of combining the Dakotas to their historical unity. And since we have the pencil out, North California and South California look good too

They who? The 50 states who administer elections through 3,143 county election boards? Yes they are all planning on having elections
