This Thanksgiving, Family and Consumer Science (FACS) students at Lightridge High School put their culinary talents to work through the Cooking Up Hope initiative. They prepared holiday meals for LCPS students and families who are experiencing homelessness.

At this week's School Board Meeting, we received an update from the Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee (CTEAC). The committee highlighted community events, learning opportunities, and real-world career alignment as achievements in support of LCPS students.

At yesterday's School Board Meeting, Dr. Linda Deans (Broad Run) recommended changing the Equity Committee from a select committee to a School Division Administrative Advisory Committee.
The majority of the Board voted in favor of this so that the distinct work of the Equity Committee can continue.

For secondary attendance zone changes that will take effect Fall 2026, LCPS surveyed certain students for interest in remaining at previously zoned schools. In one case, a parent explained that all survey emails went to spam. I am happy to say the Board voted to consider those later survey results.

Yesterday, the School Board voted to pass the tentative collective bargaining agreement between the Division and the Loudoun Education Association (LEA).

At yesterday's public hearing, the School Board considered a handful of potential rezoning plans for the Ashburn and Dulles North Elementary School Attendance Zones. Top concerns for families include traffic, walking vs. bus riding, overcrowding, and available services.
