But as I have mentioned here before, anyone who is a descendant of immigrants to the U.S. and supports this administration’s anti-immigration policies is being (at the least) brazenly hypocritical.

As well as why so many have come to this country and why it is such a complicated and often arduous process to obtain and maintain full, up to date, legal documentation of ‘right to stay’, not to mention how much more so it is to become a ‘citizen’.

I think more Americans who are still not yet opposed to this administration’s immigration policies need to learn more about the history of immigration (and immigration law and policy) in this country.

When you are in desperate need of such a huge-sized scapegoat you are clearly covering up a massive amount of damage and destruction you have caused, are causing, and will yet cause. And you know it.

I feel sad and angry about all of that because I too like Langston Hughes would like America to become the America it has shown promise to be but never (yet) realized. But I fear it is now too late.

With the atrocious anti-immigrant policies in place now and all the other manifestations of what a friend of mine just recently aptly identified as in essence ‘a death cult’ in power they are sending the U.S. into what threatens to become an ever more rapid decline.

In terms the president would recognize he and his administration come across here in particular as extremely ‘weak’ and phenomenally ‘stupid’.

In fact of course only Indigenous Americans could seriously lay claim to such designation if pushed. But more to the point a country cannot be at all great and in fact is clearly the opposite if it’s central government pursues policies systematizing hate, out of fear of ‘foreigners’ and all ‘others’

That’s terrible but so is exploiting that tragedy to support the further systematization of hate versus all who don’t fit an exceedingly narrow definition of what a ‘true American’ is supposed to be.
