Nothing wrong with a Saturday night that’s just records, good food, and no emails. Low-key nights are underrated.

There are only 12 notes in Western music… and yet somehow we’ve gotten both Beethoven’s 9th and “Pink Pony Club.”

Listening parties are one of my favorite parts of music culture. Sharing songs in real time, seeing first reactions, and celebrating the work. Got one tonight, can’t wait.

The fastest way to lose your rights? Handshake deals. Protect your art before it’s too late.

Has anybody made a Tweetdeck-like app to follow X, Threads, and Bluesky feeds all together?

Not every lawyer in music is a music fan first. That’s the problem. If you don’t love the art, how can you protect it?

Every week I talk to artists who tell me, ‘I wish I had run this contract by you first.’ Don’t wait until it’s too late — schedule a consultation and make sure you’re covered.

Not to be petty but…
You’re out here dropping music videos for songs made by producers you never paid?

Be serious.

Don’t know what to listen to? Slayer.
Driving? Slayer.
Showering? Slayer.
Filing your taxes? You guessed it—Slayer.
The answer is always Slayer. 🤘🔥

Seeing a lot of “music biz experts” charging $300+ for vague advice and zero legal context. No background. Just big talk.

Meanwhile, I’m a licensed music lawyer with label + management experience — and I’m offering 30-minute consults for $100 all May.

Real advice. Real answers. Real progress.

If you can afford Balenciaga, you can afford to pay your producers.
Simple.

Artists always hear:
“Just be grateful you even got an offer.”

Nah.
Be grateful you had the guts to walk away from a bad one.

The right deal respects your value.
The wrong deal bleeds your career dry before it even gets moving.

What’s one red flag you’ve learned to spot the hard way? 🚩

This is a mutual aid thread for musicians:
New song? EP? Album? Drop the link.

No playlist? No label? No industry plant energy?
Cool—we’re the promo now.

Post:
• Artist name + track
• Link (Bandcamp = bonus points)
• Tell us what it means to you, if you want

Randy Ojeda Law was built on a simple idea: artists deserve legal support that’s clear, honest, and actually useful.

I’ve toured. I’ve managed bands. I’ve signed deals. Now I protect people from the fine print I used to fall into.

No billable hours. No BS.

You’ve got a manager, a producer, a plug… but no lawyer? Come on now.

I’m putting all my faith in the third Taco Bell near my house. The first two let me down—betrayed me, even—but this one? This one’s different. This is the chosen one. The tortilla-wrapped messiah. I believe in her.

“You need a lawyer.”
—Me, to every artist reading this post.

If you’re signing contracts, releasing music, splitting royalties, or just wondering why your check hasn’t shown up yet… you need someone in your corner who actually reads the fine print (and enjoys it, weirdly enough).

I’m that guy.

Here’s a free legal tip: If you get a cease & desist, don’t ignore it. It won’t just go away, and pretending you never saw it is a great way to turn a warning into a lawsuit.

This bout to be my nerdiest post - but is Mimestream worth it for somebody who spends a lot of their time in Gmail? #MacOS
