Was experimenting with the visual style of the game today. I tried placing characters in the scene, but the descriptions carry so much of the atmosphere, I wouldn't be able to animate against that. Decided to switch to a classic VN scenes. #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #fantastgame #visualnovel

There is something I realised about the trolley problem: The setup only works if you create a heavily emotionally loaded situation. I have an RPG project on the back burner, where I tried to marry TTRPG conventions with a cRPG. The big problem: How do you make failed checks feel worth it and not cause an instant load game response? Like if you're robbed of an outcome. That's my minor obsession #gamedev #crpg #indiegame

When you make and release games, one thing you find is, people who won't ever play your game, and wouldn't enjoy it if they did, nevertheless have opinions about how it should be.

Their feedback might be useful if you're trying to reach outside of your game's established audience, sometimes —

I have often heard people refer to biased attitudes or jokes based in stereotypes as "just a joke" or "you know I don't actually mean it".

Except there is research to suggest making jokes like this normalises biased behaviour and invites increasingly nasty behaviour. Please be kind. It helps.
