This week's #ShowMeYourKnits is for WIPs. My colleague, with the tiniest of baby bumps, agreed that yes she loves hand knitted items for babies, and that colour wise blues would be good. Oh, and due in January!!! Sooo I'm doing TinCanKnits Marley blanket as fast as I can.

Trial run of my bat print dress went well, I managed to build a bookcase while wearing, so am going to assume I can do a day's work in the office while suitably Halloween clothed tomorrow. Also please see the label, and my tights!

I have a new bookcase, so books are coming off the floor. So good, I can see what I've got now :) and someone was talking about Louise Cooper a while ago, I know I had some of her books (the rest have yet to be located, I believe they're in the bedroom shelves).

The interesting thing about reorganising and tidying is you can answer the question, where did my shawl pins go...? One found in an old hand bag, one under the sofa.

Today I am wearing the Halloween dress I made out of quilting cotton to see whether it will be OK if I want to wear it to the office on Friday. Its purple, with a black bat-and-spider-web print. And drapes like a plank of wood. Dress pattern is (as ever) Tilly and the Buttons Indigo. No alterations.

Today I practiced my traverso flute. Although the notes are fairly similar to where they are on tin/penny whistles, the blowing is very different and I'm still struggling to get this right all the time. #RecorderPlayer #Accountability #TraversoPlayer

This weeks theme on #showMeYourKnits is about joy and care. This is a cardigan I am knitting for my child to keep them warm at uni when I can't keep them warm. It's the TinCanKnits simple cardigan and the yarn is the Hobbycraft Everyday Aran in a very definitely red.

We are doing a macmillans coffee morning tomorrow. Or rather, everyone is bringing home baked goods and we're selling them to our colleagues to raise money for Macmillans. I made rock cakes. Which contrary to certain authors depictions are not the consistency of rocks but are tasty and lovely.

Targeted practice of my tenor recorder and traverso flute, to try and consistently get the lowest notes. I have a very useful practice book which is essentially just variations on scales and arpeggios which I think is helping. #RecorderPlayer #Accountability #TraversoPlayer

Today was flute day. I got the wooden flute when I was ?20. Life happened and it got put aside. I started playing the recorder. Then Team Recorder talked about traverso flutes, so I tried one. The two are very similar and I have the same issues with the lower notes. #RecorderPlayer #Accountability

Practiced my tenor recorder. I struggle to accurately play the bottom two notes on a consistent basis so really ought to do more practice. Finished by playing my favourite piece to play, which was a grade 3 exam piece. #recorderPlayer #Accountability

So I believe the theme for #ShowMeYourKnits this week is WIPs. So here is my very definitely wip blanket, one of two, this is my mitre square West Yorkshire Spinners blanket, knitted from leftover sock yarn, and I do expect this to take a long time to finish.
