It's still crazy to me how Mirror's Edge could've been released ten years later exactly as it is and would have fit right in.
A game from 2008 that looks, sounds, feels, plays... exactly like a game from 2018. And its engine was still in use by that time.

Did a bit of mission mining in #elitedangerous yesterday and was struck with inspiration. Have a "Where/how tf do I mine this?" reference sheet.

A farmer comes out of their house one morning to find their neighbor digging a deep hole in the farmer's yard.
The farmer asks what their neighbor is doing destroying their yard. The neighbor says "I'm digging you a new water hole.".
The farmer sighs and says "I know you mean well...".

Currently cleaning up my computer which has been accumulating various files for 10+ years.
So far I've found...
1: A folder full of duck noises(?) in a proprietary Audacity format.
2: A mysterious file in a raw image format, too small to be a photo, which nothing can open.
3: A _158MB_ .txt file!

Just saw a discussion of how slang can be very confusing when learning a new language, which made me think...

So I've been experimenting with current-gen video codecs to try and replace x264 in my current workflow. I recorded several lossless test clips that contain various challenging things for video encoding: grain, concentric lines, red text, etc… and have been re-encoding these to record the metrics.

Having some fun theatrically dramatizing my video encoding experiments.

Wait a minute... "DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil" would've been the perfect title for DOOM 64!

It's an explicit sequel to DOOM II, and its plot revolves around all the demons having been resurrected.
And then DOOM 3 would've been DOOM 4 running in idTech 4, released in 2004.

Genuinely thought I'd realized the origin of the term, until I looked it up.

Recently learned about the Shavian alphabet, an attempt to create an optimized script better for writing English than the Roman alphabet. I have some nitpicks with it, but overall it's pretty cool!

...So naturally it didn't take long for me to make a tiny pixel font of it.

This represents our dynamic so well. XD
