If you're in a car in London, that means you're not in a hurry. So stay back/let me cross the road/cycle past

100 years ago tomorrow.

New York Times, November 23, 1924: “The automobile looms up as a far more destructive piece of mechanism than the machine gun. The reckless motorist deals more death than the artilleryman. … Immediate action [is necessary] to halt the homicidal orgy of the automobile.”

Good morning, Bluesky. There is beauty in the world, if you look for it.

I think Bluesky has better community and content than Mastodon

Ok so given that BlueSky is not public yet, I can take more freedom in posting some self-commitment stuff in the worst season for sun availability of the year

that's the wrong way to put it.

By accepting cars on our streets, we implicitly accept tens of thousands of death per city per year.

Reducing climate harm is a nice side effect.

When I ridicule car use, what I usually have in mind is what we are missing out on: the walkable cities with undeadly streets and pedestrian friendly atmosphere where one can walk without being paranoid and on high alert looking right and left.

Yes - as I described:
- random reply
- suggesting car use is a bad option
- 100 comments of backlash within an hour (cultish)

lol the backlash I got for making a random reply suggesting cars are a bad transit option reminds me of people being offended for disagreeing with their religion - car users are really a cult

the politicians of a nation are a representative distillation of its culture

the success of a company depends on the value it provides to society, but:

the value to society is such a subjective thing. it's a function of the ideas and culture of that society, therefore:

being a successful entrepreneur is mostly about being good at predicting what a culture values

it's all culture wars

Point three:

The emotions part need not be analogous to human emotions. It is sufficient that LLMs have any objective function: the objective function of answering user questions can be considered an emotion.

So ChatGPT has some agency because it 'wants' and 'feels' rewarded by answering users
