I don't remember much from last night's dreams, but I remember at one point I was drinking hot chocolate. Maybe I should have some today? It is pretty cold out.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 was enjoyable. It's missing a lot of the emotional arcs and character development that the first film had, but the animatronics are still cool, the PG-13 horror and humor work, and the story is still well told. 4/5, I would see another sequel. #HorrorSky #HorrorMovies

Coming up with stories is easy. Coming up with character names for those stories...a Herculean labor each and every time. Here's hoping I can figure out this minor character's name while I watch this movie. It's bugging me! #WritingCommunity

I found a recipe for sugar-free gingerbread cookies and bought the ingredients I was missing. Expect me to make some later this month. And to give them Halloween and Hanukkah shapes. Because would you expect anything different from me?

How did everyone's goals for this week go? My writing plans changed again, so I didn't do any editing this week. However, I had a really good week this week! Like, unbelievably good! So yeah, I'd say that goal was reached and surpassed.

What are everyone's goals for this week? Mine are to edit an essay I wrote earlier this year, and overall, just have a good week.

When one door closes, another door opens. And now, I'm closing the door on this day by getting some sleep. Good night and pleasant nightmares, everybody.

Wishing everyone a lovely Krampusnacht and a Shabbat Shalom. May horned, hairy demons not show up at your house. Or if they do, it's just to drink and not to punish you for your naughty behavior.

Today was, unequivocally, a good day. The latest in a week of good days. I hope tomorrow is more of the same.
Now if anyone needs me, I'll be asleep. Good night and pleasant nightmares, everyone.

Or, you know, you could pay an artist whose work you like to make exactly the cover or illustration that you need.

I know it might sound crazy, but it works!

We writers should not be insulting our brothers and sisters in the visual arts by using AI slop for our covers or in our presentations.

We already had access to photo depositories and stock art and it's easy enough to ask artists if you can reuse their work for a promotional credit.

So, another crazy thing happened at that holiday party today: I ended up at the same table as a different exec and his wife, and we got to talking. Turns out, he's an aspiring horror writer and an anime fan as well.

At the dept holiday party, they had bottles of sweet red from a local winery. Only the label had one of our execs wearing a Santa hat and doing his impression of The Most Interesting Man in the World on it. I got to keep a bottle and I got a photo with the man himself!
I love my life sometimes.

Well, my plans changed again: I ended up giving a short story one last look before sending it off to a magazine. And tomorrow, if there's time, I'll be plotting a new short story for a charity anthology. Still, I'm not complaining. Life is going well for me lately.

What a great quote.

I don’t know if it’s an act of rebellion, but I do love writing and drawing. It seems harder and harder to keep being creative.

Now to The Horrors.

In his blog post
CREATING PERSONAL MEANING IN A DARK WORLD IS HOW WE TAKE A STAND,
Matt said “finding joy in being a creative person is an act of rebellion.”

Share a creative outlet that brings you joy and/or feels like an act of rebellion.

I’ve had intense, terrifying nightmares my whole life. One good thing about them is that they are great inspiration for stories!
My story “The Dancing Bear” was inspired by a dream.

#HorrorWritersChat Q3

This one is going to be hard.

One of the last things Matt asked us at Horror Writers Chat was to share a horror writing related dream.

This can be;
> an actual dream that inspired you.
> a dream you have for your writing career.

Interpret this any way you’d like.
