What’s that up on blue sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It’s a video tutorial on making word bubbles in @adobefresco.adobe.com as well as a post? Incredible!

Rizzo rides again! Catch her in the November / December issue of The Texas Observer, now as a 6-page story. Previously seen in the Brussels Comics Museum and on Drawing the Times.

In 2018, this gentleman backed my Kickstarter for Faces on the Ferry, choosing a custom portrait tier. He sprung it on his ferry-loving girlfriend. Fast forward to 2025, and she surprises him with a portrait of their family of three on his birthday. Sweet, huh?

Willful suspension of disbelief is my favorite “character flaw.” We couldn’t tell stories without it. 🕊️

One more page! Then a cover illustration for the proposal, and I’m done! For now.

I’m about a week away from finishing my book proposal for Wolf House Fables, my graphic novel. Here are a few sample pages from the “fairy tale” storyline. 🦁 ✨

Cannot express how happy I am to rediscover this album. Great for coloring fairy tale pages! 🧚 ✨ I owned the CD about 25 years ago and couldn’t recall the title. Sinead O’Connor’s fragile voice brought tears to my eyes.

Yesterday, I made a few Free Speech Canary drawings at the rainy art market and gave a couple away. Today, I’m sending the remaining canary to a musician friend in NYC and whipping up a new one for a drawing exchange with the excellent @catherineholmes.bsky.social Embrace action, however small. 🐤

A random person shouted out “You have beautiful hair!” as I cycled to work this morning. Considering that I haven’t been to the hairdresser in 6 months and get scads of targeted ads for mature ladies about hair loss, I’ve decided to allow myself to feel good about being uncut, frumpy and free.

I have over €4k in overdue invoices out right now, have followed up with clients this week, and still have not been paid. If it’s not clear, my freelance income is how I pay bills and buy groceries. There is a kind of alternate reality to weekends, where I dread the impending gap in responses.

A book proposal for a graphic novel is a slog, let there be no doubt. I was reminded of @annelamott.bsky.social and her “bird by bird” advice while working on this particularly feathery passage this weekend, making my mark, panel by panel. 🐦 ✍️
