Counterpoint. Particularly relevant how Europe (WHO definition), improved while US got worse. Productivity increased, but there were/are real costs to that.

This 5th century church in Ravenna Italy was an absolute gem. The entire side is done not with paint, but with intricate mosaics, that have stood there for 1 millenia and a half, from back when Ravenna was the capital of the Western Roman Empire. It's breathtaking.

Somebody really lived out their architecture fantasies in Pesaro.

Valtoare = traditional Romanian "washing machine", made by diverting a stream through a wood barrel. These were lifesavers when you had to wash traditional carpets and other heavy duty fabrics. This one is from Bologa, Cluj County, still in use after at least 50 years.

Had a blast, and drunk a lot of good wine, at the Jidvei annual harvest festival, at Bethlen-Haller castle over the weekend. Highly recommend. Now onwards to Monday :(.

The last rays of the summer sun, over the Parâng Mountains.

While the city was sweltering in the heat, I escaped to the Parâng Mountains and enjoyed both the cool weather and the views.

Our dog turned 12 in December. This winter has been rough on him and on us. Used to take him for of-leash runs every day. First it was an hour a day, then 3 times a week, then one time a week, now it's 30 minutes a week and he's tired by the end. I love him to bits anyway.

Having an organic orchard is very hard work, but it pays of in butterflies.

The markets are down bigly, but I took my anual vacation and got to a beautiful European town and nobody here seems to pay attention to tariffs. If I told them the US is in a trade war with penguins they would be deeply concerned for my mental health. So I keep quiet, take in the views and eat.
