Do it! I stopped at SOB briefly and while the amusement park seems to be closed for good, the sombrero tower, shops and reptile lagoon appear to be going strong.

Side note: The new @wunc.org Laurinburg transmitter at 89.1 FM now covers all these places with public radio, which is great for nerds like me who like to catch up on news while cruising the back roads.

Cool, I made it as far east as Lake View, SC, but will have to check out Nichols next time

Gibson, NC (I would love to know what the Talk of the Town building used to be)

Bennettsville, SC (where you can take a walk along a partially drained lake and a sign will be very proud of you)

Cheraw, SC (birthplace of Dizzy Gillespie, and they are very proud of it!)
