Hi Petra,a very interesting article, thanks. However, you are being a bit hard on the tree fungi when you say 'fungi fruiting bodies .... derive their energy by weakening or killing the tree'. Many heartwood fungi prolong a tree's life by releasing nutrients from the old wood to be reused.
