A magnificent multi-stem oak in Borders Forest Trust’s Dairy Wood historic wood pasture at Ericstane just north of Moffat, Dumfrisshire 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We have done Dendro here showing the oak stems originate in the early 19th century.

Lovely old ash tree I came across while wandering the lanes. It might be stumpy but it's still hanging on in there!

A proliferation of Clustered Bonnets Mycena inclinata (we think). Commonly found across the UK in places where oak trees live (and die), these beauties were spotted in the hollowing stem of a spectacular ancient oak in Dumfries & Galloway. Eating definitely not recommended though! #FungiFriday

Lots of #fungi about in the #Scottishborders after yesterday's rain. I think these are Shaggy Inkcaps and Parasol mushrooms but I'm happy to be corrected #fungifriends

Unsustainable deer numbers stop our landscape developing its full potential. This is Sutherland, but it might be anywhere in the Highlands. Trees only cling on where deer can't reach. Let's get numbers to sustainable levels & let the whole landscape live - not just nooks & crannies. #MairTreesPlease
