Another don’t bother fixing the problem at Seapoint

Instead of addressing the disintegrating floor due repeated flooding as there is no drainage its patch and hide, with a bonus extra trip hazard

So yesterday we had the usual smoke & mirrors funding announcement

€24 billion spend on transport up to 2030, no breakdown no project list

We also know they are careless, as the front page has a photo of a train in Belfast which isn’t certified to operate on Irish Rail

Previous study, nothing done...

Testing continues on the new DART fleet. The test train is now based in Fairview for overhead line and ETCS testing

💥 follows as the cable short circuits, overloads and starts to melt, a small fire starts

The operative drops the strimmer in shock

The earth wire fails and parts in two and falls to the ground

So the full story to last Wednesday chaos

Team sent out to perform vegetation removal, between Blackrock and Booterstown. 2 with strimmers and a look out

One of the strimmers was using a metal disk not the usual nylon wire…

Someone cuts into the 1500v DC feed cable

This is what passes for informing passengers there are no trains North of Connolly for 3 days

Doesn’t say no trains, it relies on PR double speak and forces the customer to investigate on their own time.

Positive news in the program for government for a dedicated transport police with arrest powers

Not the first time such a commitment has been made and both the NTA and Garda commissioner stated it’s not needed despite the massive rise in reported incidents on public transport

And off we go...

Irish Rail can't get the first trains of the day away on time and so starts the domino effect across the morning

Very interesting internal emails from Irish Rail, the folks who devised the timetable living in a fantasy land, blaming everything but the timetable

Timetable failed as it lacked redundancy, required repeated tight turnarounds and operating with effectively zero margin to spare

After a fair amount of searching we did find the mystery shuttle bus between Grand Canal Dock and Connolly

No signage to direct passengers, not using a bus stop, not shown in timetables

All setup to later claim it’s not needed as it wasn’t used

This is Clongriffin, looks more like a post Zombie apocalypse scene than a busy station.

No sign to say it’s a station, timetable 11 years out of date, no signage or information and the steps to the platform are loose

190 years of running a railway, you think they would have got it all dialled in by now...

9 trains in a row late

Lot of talk of making public transport attractive and safe

Second entrance at Tara Street is a disgrace, locked up emergency exit, heavy rust and a disgusting smell

Passengers deserve better

New DART+ fleet look the business, more leg room, full compliance with accessibility obligations, usb sockets, more leg room, more space under the seats, self closing doors to keep the heat in and no heating duct on the floor taking up space

But we do prefer the 'green' interior from the mock up
