Like my dad, we will glitch in real-time to adjust our 9-channel knob mindset to a 999-channel remote, but I am confident that we can overcome it. And the sudden "1000-fold expansion of possible coding universe" is only going to increase the demand for programming(pun intended)...

I believe we are witnessing an analogous phenomenon unfold in real-time. More than ever, we need to be ruthless in questioning the constraints that are symbolic remnants of a bygone era.

It took him a while to unlearn the constraint of 9 channels. The sudden 1000-fold expansion of the universe took some adjustment, but he did it. In contrast, operating a TV remote came relatively naturally to my younger brother and me.
