Pretty sure that fundamentalists taking bible stories literally is what pre-adapted them to believing absurdities, though Ancient Aliens, etc. didn’t help.

When did “on the sky” become standard english? “In the sky” has been standard for centuries.

The article linked is short on specifics, but it does say that protection was seen against both blood clotting and hemorrhagic effects from different snake venoms.

The snakes whose venom the researchers injected into the camels.
The purpose was to see if camel antibodies, which are very stable and don’t require refrigeration, would make effective anti venoms.

Democratic Party.

“Democrat Party” is a Republican slur.

It’s even worse than that. Members of Congress have an even stronger free speech right than ordinary citizens. We have the First Amendment but MOCs have the First Amendment and the Speech and Debate Clause, which prohibits even questioning them on anything they say except in Congress.

But Arizona arguably cost him the 2020 election so…

By the way, your post here is why everyone characterizes journalists’ response to issues like this as “circling the wagons.”
They should take in valid criticism and act differently, not reflexively defend the naive passivity of fellow journalists.

No one wants venom spat at them, but being a real journalist requires courage, not meek stenography. It’s a profession uniquely protected by the Constitution, its members should act like it.

I’m a boomer myself! If you reread what I wrote, I mention 2 demographics, the sane, and the under 55. I count you and myself as sane, even though we’re no longer under 55!

Ditto the word “buffalo,” but only if you leave out the word “that.”

Buffalo buffalo, Buffalo buffalo buffalo, buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

Buffalo buffalo, Buffalo buffalo buffalo, buffalo buffalo, Buffalo buffalo buffalo.

etc.

Zohran Mamdani will make all New York City rhom buses free!

The good news is that no one sane/under 55 watches this crap any more. Face the Nation is now so comically part of the irrelevant media for olds that it falls into the same category as Fox and Friends.

I dare say more people watch John Oliver in the relevant demographics (i.e. sane and non-seniors)

Always remember that the NYC Metropolitan Statistical Area (population: over 20 million) contains more than 4 times as many people as the Boston Metropolitan Statistical Area (population: less than 5 million).

Sadly many parents must leave it to schools as the parents themselves are semi literate or worse.

Kuttner’s analysis is wrong. Heather Cox Richardson’s is correct: Schumer’s proposed deal would have extended ACA subsidies if accepted, or make Senate Republicans fully own the shutdown if rejected - which they were forced to do against their will by Trump.
